U3A Knox Craft Market

Tidy Miniatures will be at the: 

U3A Knox CRAFT MARKET

U3A is holding a craft market for makers of handcrafted items on 

Sunday 25th March 2018 from 10am - 3pm. 

1a Park  Boulevard, Ferntree Gully

This market will be held at the Parkhills site and entry is free. 

You can also enjoy a cuppa and devonshire tea whilst picking up some 

Easter and Mother's Day gifts. Some of the items on offer will be: novelty chickens, handmade cards, baby & children's items, jewellery, cot sized quilts, patchwork, pot plants, cookies, dream catchers, bags and many more items. 

The Royal Children's hospital will also be selling items to fundraise for the hospital.

30th Annual Festival of Miniatures and Dollhouses - South Australia

Tidy Miniatures is coming back to Adelaide for the 30th Annual Miniatures and Dollhouses Festival next weekend. Again we have a great range of popular bauble and lantern kits, roomboxes and dollhouses available for sale. If you missed out last year, come and grab them early before they are gone! We also have many attractive new kits for you to bring home this year

PALM TREES

Palm trees can be found in a number of DIY bauble kits. Some instruction manuals come with palm leaf templates for you to trace and cut out on the green paper provided. This can be quite fiddly and time consuming, however can give a quite a satisfying result.

Here we'd like to show you a simpler way to get a similar result (or even better!) depending on your preference.

1. Find the green paper 

2. Draw 2 sizes of simple skinny leaf shapes, approx. 3cm and 4cm long, freehand on the green paper. Around 12 - 15 leaves are enough for one tree.

3. Cut the leaves out 

4. Serrate them by clipping little triangles off the edges freely leaving the tips of the leaf. The irregular serration will give the palm tree a more realistic look.

 

5. Use your nails, scissor blades or tweezers to curl the leaves the way you like. 

6. Randomly glue the leaves around the tree trunk. Start the first layer with 3 - 4 leaves at the top of the trunk, then repeat gluing 4 - 5 leaves for the second and third layer slightly lower than the previous layer. Use combinations of short leaves for the upper layer(s) and long leaves for the lower layer(s), or just use short leaves for small trees and long leaves for big trees. 

And now a palm tree is done! Hurray!!

B008 PANDORA MAGIC GARDEN

This glass bauble contains a tiny pink cottage.  The main feature being a circular train track running around the building with a tiny train and carriages.

This cottage contains two lit rooms.  Downstairs is a detailed kitchen and dining area, while upstairs there is a pretty attic bedroom.

Passing through double doors from the downstairs area beside the cottage there is a fenced off little courtyard garden area, with a stunning wattle tree growing in the corner.

This flat bottomed bauble may be placed or hung and makes a charming and unique gift for all ages from a newborn baby girl, young child or an adult. 

B007 WIND FANTASY

This sweet bright multicoloured windmill and side building fits neatly inside a flat bottomed glass bauble that may be placed or hung.

Inside the main windmill reside two rooms.  The lower level a pretty living room furnished with a sofa, coffee table and shelves. Tucked in a corner there is a ladder leading up to a little loft bedroom.  Situated beside the main windmill is a smaller building that has been transformed into a potting shed containing small plants and a potting table.

Surrounding the buildings are lush lawns, a small rockery garden, mosaic paths and potted plants.

Altogether this DIY kit is fantastic, both unmade as a project or made up as the perfect gift.

B006 FLYING CABIN DESTINY

This glass bauble contains a cute multi-coloured house giving a wonderful, fun splash of colour to any room, in particular a young child's bedroom or playroom.  This round flat bottomed bauble may be both placed or hung and is particularly popular with younger children who saw the movie Up.  

The multi-coloured house in this bauble has been cleverly suspended above a grassy area surrounded by a picket fence.  The result makes the house appear to be floating towards the sky held up by a bunch of brightly coloured balloons.

Within the house there are two fully lit and beautifully furnished rooms, one a small lounge room and the other a larger dining area.
